RMAN, KOMPAS.com - Kabar Kimi Raikkonen bakal kembali ke arena F1 seperti didengungkan beberapa minggu belakangan, bukan sekadar gosip. Sinyal itu datang Toto wolff, pemegang saham di tim F1 Williams yang dikatakannya bahwa tim pimpinan Frank Williams itu sedang melakukan negosiasi.
Ketua tim Williams Adam Parr menegaskan sewaktu di India bahwa Raikkonen sangat cocok buat Williams untuk membangun kembali setelah melalui masa-masa "suram" prestasi.
Wolff melanjutkan perundingan sedang berlangsung dengan mantan juara dunia 2007. Termasuk juga sama pebalap cadangan Ferrari Jules Bianchi. "Ya, itu benar," ujar Wolff kepada Zeitung. "Berkas Kimi Raikkonen ada di meja dan ini bukan untuk pamer. Kami sedang bernegosiasi serius."
Pada F1 di Abu Dhabi di sirkuit Yes Marina, Minggu ini (13/11), Williams akan membawa Valtteri Bottas yang dipertimbangkan untuk dilihat kemampuannya saat latihan resmi pertama Jumat.

Ferrai merupakan salah satu tim yg amat berjasa bagi kimi karena pada tahaun 2007 ia sempat menjadi juara dunia dgn tim ini selain itu tim ini juga membayar ia dengan biaya yg tidak murah :P sayang kontraknya harus putus pada tahun 2009 kalau gak salah :P

Saat ini ia turun di ajang WRC bersama tim Citroen Junior. Kimi sebelumnya sempat turun di ajang Formula 1 dari musim 2001 sampai akhir 2009. Tim yang ia bela yaitu Sauber (2001), McLaren (2002-06), dan Ferrari (2007-09) dimana bersama Ferrari-lah ia meraih gelar juara dunia pada musim 2007.
Akhir musim 2009, kontrak Kimi di Ferrari diputus menyusul serentetan prestasi buruknya selama dua musim berturut-turut. Posisi Kimi di Ferrari kemudian digantikan Sang Singa Spanyol, Fernando Alonso. Setelah gagal menjalin kontrak dengan tim lamanya, McLaren, Kimi kemudian banting haluan ke ajang WRC bersama Citroen untuk musim 2010. Di musim 2011 sendiri, Kimi masih bertahan di ajang WRC dan kali ini ia turun sebagai pemilik sekaligus pembalap di tim pribadinya yaitu Iceman1 Rally Team.
Selain di reli WRC, di musim 2011 Kimi Raikkonen juga turun di ajang NASCAR bersama tim Kyle Busch Racing di seri Camping World Truck Series dan bersama NEMCO Motorsports milik Joe Nemechek di seri Nationwide Series.

Räikkönen switched to Ferrari in 2007, he became the highest paid driver in motor sport with an estimated wage of $51 million per year.[2] In turn his move to Ferrari saw him secure his first Formula One World Drivers' Championship, beating McLaren drivers Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso by one point, as well as becoming one of the very few drivers to win in their first season at Ferrari. In 2008, he equalled the record for fastest laps in a season for the second time. After one more year in the sport, he left the Ferrari F1 team to drive a Citroën C4 WRC for the Citroën Junior Team in the World Rally Championship for 2010. Along with rallying, Räikkönen has turned his attention towards NASCAR,[3] and made his debut for Kyle Busch Motorsports in the Camping World Truck Series.
Räikkönen is known to be very relaxed, calm, cool, and calculating in his everyday life as well as in his racing career—prompting the nickname "Iceman", which Räikkönen has tattooed on the underside of his left forearm and which is also subtly written on the side of his current helmet design.
In 2008, Räikkönen was among the two Formula One drivers who made it into the Forbes magazine's The Celebrity 100 list, the other being Fernando Alonso. He is 36th on Forbes magazine's The Celebrity 100 list of 2008, and 41st on the previous year.[4] On the same list, as of 2008, he is listed as the 26th highest paid celebrity overall and the 5th highest paid sportsman behind Tiger Woods, David Beckham, Michael Jordan and Phil Mickelson. In 2009, Räikkönen was listed as the equal 2nd highest paid athlete in the world, behind Woods.[5]
